te reo Maori Spam

Be aware of Spam being circulated using Te Reo Māori and another language.

Below is a screen shot of the latest te reo Māori spam I received. While this is not very sophisticated, it very quickly and easily could be made to look legit and from someone you know.

Unfortunately there are no services to protect Māori or indeed Asians and Pacific Island cultures from online harassment. This, despite the fact that Māori, Asians and Pacific Peoples are all more likely to be harassed and abused online.

My advise is if you recieve te reo Māori spam, add it to your spam folder and let the whānau and your networks now that it is going around. This is the only and the best method to combat and prevent such spam and phishing attacks on Māori.
