Macrons in .nz domains

The ability to register macrons in .nz domain names started to become a reality today for current .nz domain name owners. It is a happy day for me as the original initiator for this to occur in New Zealand some three years ago.

An one month sunrise period was launched today by the Domain Name Commissioner which offers current domain name owners an opportunity to pre register their current domain name but with a macron variant. Full Details at http://dnc.org.nz/story/nz-domain-names-macrons .

Upon a successful registration your domain name with macron variations will be registered for a month offering you protection for your domain name variation. After one month, you will be required to pay your domain name company their regular fee’s associated with domain name registrations.

If you have a domain name that uses a Māori word that is spelt correctly with a macron and you wish to protect this name you should pre register now as when this goes live it will be a first come first served basis.

It is important to point out that macron ability is across all of the current .nz names not just .iwi.nz and .maori.nz

Kia ora Karaitiana me ngā mihi,

Ka nui te mihi mō te whakatutuki i te kaupapa nei. Awesome!

Just curious, will the system accept upper case characters with macrons as well? Or just lower case?

    Kia ora rā
